Program Overview

Program Description:
Since 1977, over 2,400 St. George's students have been awarded the MD degree, and have gone on to practice in over 22 countries across the world, in all specialties and subspecialties. Additionally, over 1,200 students have transferred with advanced standing from St. George's into 84 medical schools in the United States. According to a Spring 1994 survey of our alumni, with 78% responding, 99.8% of eligible graduates who are US citizens and who applied obtained Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved residency positions in 364 hospitals across 41 states of the US. Nineteen percent of our School of Medicine graduates become chief residents in their subspecialty. Medical students undertake their basic science study in Grenada and in St. Vincent. Clinical skills development begins in the first year. The clinical phase of the programme is completed at the University's affiliated hospital sites in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean.
