Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies Church leaders, lay persons, and those wanting to explore their own personal interests can all benefit from the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies. Whether to deepen their faith and understanding of theology, better equip themselves to minister more effectively, or merely to explore their own interests, this certificate is creatively designed to allow students to select courses from a wide array of disciplines. Students can complete this certificate with a minimum of 20 credit hours. These credits can be taken over two semesters while attending full time or spread out over a longer time frame. ONLINE OPTION Students may complete all or part of the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies through the use of online courses. Graduate Certificate in Pastoral Family Therapy The Graduate Certificate in Pastoral Family Therapy is for those persons serving congregations in formal or informal ways who desire to enhance their pastoral skills. It provides clergy and lay ministers the skills to better serve individuals, couples, and families dealing with alcoholism, communication problems, abusive relationships, depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, or family problems. This 15-semester hour program provides access to a specially designed sequence of graduate level courses from the counseling and family therapy programs at SF Seminary. Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy The Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy is designed for helping professionals and pastoral counselors who want and need to be more effective in their service to parents, couples, and families. The 42-semester hour program includes not only essential seminars and course work, but also supervised clinical experience in marriage and family therapy at the Sioux Falls Seminary on-site Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic, plus the possibility of an internship in one of several other settings.
