- Program Description:
- SCAD has one of the most comprehensive photography programs in the United States, offering a broad range of specialized courses and electives across digital, analog and historic photographic processes. Students develop fluency with a variety of camera systems, digital workflow, color and black-and-white technique, and both studio and location lighting. Students are guided by faculty mentors in tailoring their course of study through elective coursework, independent study, internships, and/or extracurricular activities and student groups. At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, students work toward the goal of achieving a personal vision and a highly developed degree of visual literacy. Equipment includes Macintosh computers, Adobe CS5 Master Collection, Imacon scanners, and wide-format inkjet printers. A Durst Theta printer in Atlanta and an Epsilon printer in Savannah enable students to expose and process RA-4 photographic materials from digital files using the worldwide standard for museum-quality printing. Students use professional lighting equipment, medium- and large-format cameras, digital camera backs, an alternative processes lab and private darkrooms. The M.A. in photography is offered at SCAD in Atlanta, Savannah, Hong Kong and eLearning. The M.F.A. in photography is offered at SCAD in Atlanta, Savannah, and Hong Kong.
