Program Overview

Program Description:
SCAD encourages exploration in a variety of production types, including narrative, documentary, experimental cinema, music video, television programming and new media. Students have access to equipment found at major production and postproduction facilities. They work in the creative atmosphere of a film and television studio using digital technology, nonlinear editing systems, digital audio workstations, and comprehensive labs for screenwriting, scheduling and budgeting. Production facilities and equipment include Steadicam EFP, Super Panther and Fisher dollies, chroma key/green screen studio and sound stage. The film and television department houses high-end Avid Nitris and Symphony Nitris workstations and editing suites. Cameras include Panasonic hvx, hpx digital cameras and DVC Pro; Sony digital high-definition, Panasonic VariCam high-definition; 16 mm, Super 16 mm and 35 mm; and Red One digital.

Requirements:
SCAD encourages applications from students who demonstrate successful completion of appropriate coursework on the undergraduate level and adequate preparedness to undertake graduate-level study. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or should anticipate completion of a bachelor’s degree before enrollment in the graduate program.
