- SCAD offers one of the largest and most comprehensive fashion programs in the United States with a balanced curriculum of design and construction. Fashion students are encouraged to develop creative and intellectual thinking, inventive design skills, and practical expertise necessary to succeed in careers in the global fashion industry. Sewing studios are equipped with professional sewing machines, industry-standard dress forms, cutting tables, and specialty finishing equipment. Computer labs offer an Infinity Plus plotter for patternmaking, Mimaki textile printer, software including Kaledo, Vision Fashion Studio, Gerber Suite, Lectra U4ia, Virtual Fashion Pro, and online or print trends including WGSN, here & there and Peclers. Throughout the year students have the opportunity to submit their designs to national and international competitions at all levels. During the annual SCAD fashion show, juried collections of undergraduate and graduate student work are showcased in a major production, covered by national and international media and streamed live over the Internet. SCAD is one of few universities in the United States to offer an M.F.A. in fashion. The program combines design education and innovation to balance the development of students’ creative and intellectual skills with practical and professional preparation specific to the global apparel industries.

- Requirements:
- SCAD encourages applications from students who demonstrate successful completion of appropriate coursework on the undergraduate level and adequate preparedness to undertake graduate-level study. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or should anticipate completion of a bachelor’s degree before enrollment in the graduate program.
