Program Overview
- Program Description:
Clinical psychologists are rigorously trained to understand, prevent, and relieve psychologically based distress and dysfunction and to promote personal well-being in their clients. In addition to conducting psychological assessments and providing psychotherapy, they often work with a variety of other specialists to provide an integrated approach to healthcare. At SBGI, the scientific foundations of clinical psychology are blended with alternative methodologies that prepare graduates to provide a holistic (mind, body, and spirit) approach to health and healing.
Students pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees in clinical psychology choose to specialize in either of SBGI’s flagship programs: somatic psychology or prenatal and infant psychology. They engage in a curriculum that blends the best of traditional treatment philosophies and methodologies with the best of alternative approaches, and learn from faculty who leading practitioners.. Throughout their academic careers, students learn by doing—receiving extensive clinical experience and learning from the latest research in the broad field of psychology and their area of specialization. Graduates are eligible to sit for licensure as a Marital and Family Therapist in the State of California.
