Program Description:

One of the first online graduate-level history programs in the United States, the Master of Arts in History at Sam Houston State University presents a truly unique learning experience, with an innovative curriculum that encourages and enriches the professional career goals of our scholars. The program offers a variety of concentrations—Early America, 19th Century U.S., Modern U.S., American South, Social/Cultural U.S., Women’s History, Latin America, Hispanic World, Pre-Modern Europe, Modern Europe, Military History, and World History—to fit your individual goals.

Our student base includes aspiring young professionals interested in secondary teaching, professional programs, the military, civil service, public history, and two-year college faculty positions, as well as students who plan to continue their graduate studies in history onward to the PhD.

This degree program may be completed entirely through online courses, entirely through on campus courses, or through a combination of online and on campus courses.
