Program Description:

The Master of Science in Biology is designed to prepare you for a related doctoral program or a career as a professional biologist in industry, government, or academia. This degree is research-oriented allowing you to work directly under the supervision of a faculty mentor and thesis committee. Our diverse faculty allows you to choose a specialization among the gamut of biological research options, from studying molecular basis of disease to investigating the ecological and evolutionary processes of macroorganisms. Specific areas of faculty research interests include parasitology, systematics of insects and plants, vegetation mapping, animal, plant and bacterial physiology, cellular signal transduction, genomics, micro and macro evolution, vertebrate reproduction, animal mating systems, entomology, behavioral ecology, and ecology of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
