Program Description:
Graduate work leading to the M.S. degree in Environmental Geology is offered in Newark for full- and part-time students in collaboration with the Department of Geological Sciences at Rutgers-New Brunswick and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NJIT.

Students enrolled in the M.S. Program in Environmental Geology at Rutgers-Newark may elect a thesis option (24 credits of course work plus 6 credits of thesis research) or a non-thesis option (36 credits of course work plus a final comprehensive written examination) and will be required to take a minimum of 15 graduate credits at Rutgers-Newark from among graduate courses in Environmental Geology, Seminar in Environmental Geology, Analytical Methods in Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geophysics, Soil Geochemistry and Geomorphology. The remaining credits may be chosen from among all graduate courses offered at Rutgers-New Brunswick Geological Sciences or from among selected graduate courses in Remote Sensing, GIS andHydrology offered at the NJIT Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. These and other courses offered outside Rutgers-Newark that are used to satisfy degree requirements have to be approved by the Graduate Program Director.
