Program Description:

MSc Business Information Systems: Taught in conjunction with the School of Management, this course meets the need for information systems capability within businesses and combines computing technologies and business management principles. The programme comprises four taught courses: Information Technology & Business, Foundations of Modern Management Practice Information Systems Design, Development & Management, and Enabling Technologies for Competitive Success plus a dissertation. MSc Computational Biology for Genomics & Proteomics: Taught in collaboration with the School of Biological Sciences, this programme is suitable for students with either a Biological Science or Computer Science background. It consists of: introductory programming or introductory molecular biology (depending on student’s background); computer learning; functional genomics; databases; proteomics; computational biology; transferable skills sessions and a one-term practical project, including a poster and oral presentation. MSc Computational Finance: The programme covers mathematical and computational methods required for quantitative analysis of financial markets and used in financial and banking institutions. A unique feature is the significant role played by machine learning and data analysis, through the internationally renowned Computer Learning Research Centre in the Department of Computer Science. Research Opportunities: All academic staff are available to supervise PhD students. Staff research interests are given on our website.
