- MSc Biological Sciences Research: This programme is ideally suitable both for graduates who would like to undertake original research without committing themselves to a three-year PhD, and to students who want to gain a research-based Masters before embarking on a PhD. There is a minor taught element, with classes covering a wide range of research-related topics. The major element is a research project carried out under supervision. MSc Computational Biology for Genomics & Proteomics: Taught in collaboration with the Computer Science Department, this programme is suitable for students with either a Biological Science or Computer Science background. It consists of: introductory programming or introductory molecular biology (depending on the student’s background); computer learning; functional genomics; databases; proteomics; computational biology; transferable skills sessions; and a one-term practical project, including a poster and oral presentation.
