Program Overview
- Program Description:
A two-year, full-time program, the Master of Arts in Forensic & Legal Psychology is designed to prepare students for doctoral training focused on forensic or legal psychology. Students will be trained in clinical assessment and psychological testing, the diagnosis of psychopathology, treatment planning, individual and group interventions, research design, and statistical analysis and program evaluation.
Anchored by significant research experiences and a comprehensive thesis, the program provides a strong foundation for students wishing to earn a Ph.D. in psychology and law or a related discipline. Students are provided with structured research projects, working directly with a faculty member on directed research or conducting research in a field setting through a research practicum. Many students will publish their work or present at national conferences. Following graduation, students often pursue further academic training at the doctoral level (Ph.D.) in applied, clinical, experimental, or legal psychology.
A 60-credit M.A. in Forensic Mental Health Counseling program is also available for students interested in pursuing licensure (LMHC) or study in a Psy.D. program.
