- The graduate programs in music offer courses leading to a Master of Arts or Master of Science degree. The Master of Arts program provides advanced study for musicians and music scholars in preparation for professional careers or doctoral study. The Master of Science program provides advanced study and opportunities for music therapists and school music educators to refine existing competencies and to attain new ones.
Radford University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). All programs in music education at Radford University are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and are approved by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).
The curriculum in music therapy, which is in accordance with the recommendations established by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), provides eligibility to take the national certification exam administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
