Program Overview
- Program Description:
The discipline of Forensic Anthropology continues to gain importance throughout the world due to its far-reaching contributions to the resolution of cases involving human rights violations, common crimes and mass disasters. The education and certification of professionals in the field of forensic anthropology is of particular interest to the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), as part of its efforts to follow the recommendations of the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CVR).
Forensic Anthropology has developed hand in hand with Bioarchaeology, a discipline that permits the interpretation of behavior based on past biological remains. The integration of biological and cultural information to the reconstruction of the past allows bioarchaeological studies to provide a more complete perspective of history.
The high quality of the program’s courses and teaching staff, in accordance with international scientific and ethical standards, opens the doors for the excellent performance of the graduate in their professional fields, working in multidisciplinary environments and being committed to justice and to the respect for the fundamental rights of every human being.
This program is supported by the Finish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by way of its embassy in Peru. The program also enjoys the collaboration of international organizations and other entities, both public and private.
