Program Description:

The content of the MSc Computer Science covers a number of areas highly relevant for the current computing environment, such as programming, web development, system requirements analysis and design, and fundamentals of business intelligence. The School of Computing and Mathematics conducts teaching and research in a broad range of subjects relating to computer science and is well equipped with high-spec workstations, as well as powerful parallel computing and cluster facilities. Why should you take a general Computer Science masters degree? The label "Computer Science" is a standard worldwide. It is unlikely to become unfashionable in the job market.

Accreditation:

The quality of the course is assured as it is accredited by the BCS (British Computer Society) - The Chartered Institute for IT. A graduate is entitled to membership of the society (MBCS) and can work towards Chartered (CITP, CEng) status with three years' relevant work experience. The BCS South West branch has a very active programme, holding many of their sessions at Plymouth University. The branch has a rich programme of events that contributes to broadening the knowledge and experience of the students.

Requirements:

MSc: 2:2 or higher in a degree with a computing element; MRes: 2:1 or higher. Graduates with professional experience will also be considered. Entry to the MRes is via initial entry to the MSc.

International Requirements:

Applicants with overseas qualifications can check their comparability with the UK equivalent through NARIC, who provide an advisory service. If your first language is not English then evidence of English proficiency is required. The level of proficiency that is required can vary with the type of programme for which you are applying. The minimum IELTS score for acceptable English proficiency for entry is normally 6.5.
