Program Overview

Program Description:
The Specialist in Education degree with a major in school psychology is designed to provide degree candidates with the competencies necessary to function effectively as school psychologists in special education cooperatives, public schools and institutional settings. Persons with a bachelor's degree may begin this degree by working toward a prescribed master's degree in psychology. All Ed.S. applicants must have a master's degree in a related field, including at least 10 hours of graduate work applicable to the area of school psychology. The candidate for this degree must meet requirements for provisional certification as a school psychologist in the state of Kansas. Full certification requires completion of this degree plus one school year of internship.
