Program Overview

Program Description:

The dual degree Master of Business Administration/Master of Health
Administration program is designed specifically for health service managers
and clinicians who require enhanced business competencies in order to
achieve their career goals. Although the program is intended primarily for
those who have been working in health service organizations for at least five
years, individual arrangements may be developed for persons with shorter
tenure as well as for those who have not enjoyed previous employment in
the health sector.

The course of study focuses on practical applications from both business and
health service fields of knowledge. As such, it facilitates the development
of an innovative and functional interface of these related, but essentially
distinct, operational environments. Emphasis is placed on the development
of leadership skills that are necessary to thrive in the rapidly changing and
extraordinarily complex health service enterprise of the 21st Century, both in
the United States and internationally.

The program designed is founded on the perspective that healthcare is not
“just another business.” Rather, it is a unique set of service arrangements with
inherent duties and accountabilities that are crucially related to innovative,
sound and responsible business practices. Graduates will have the requisite
knowledge and skills for significant professional advancement in a wide range
of health related settings. The MBA/MHA program maintains high academic
quality, while providing flexible and convenient study options both in the
traditional classroom setting and over the Internet.
