Program Overview

Program Description:

The aim of this programme is to give engineering and science graduates a good grounding in mechatronics design and practice. The programme provides an integrated approach to mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, control systems and computing, which will enable graduates to work effectively in an interdisciplinary engineering environment.

You complete compulsory modules (80 credits) in: mechatronics; sensors and actuators; robotics; distributed control systems; microprocessor systems; methods in industrial research and development. If English is not your first language you will normally be required to complete a module in writing dissertations in science and engineering (10 credits).

You also take a research project with either an electronic or mechanical engineering emphasis (60 credits). Depending on your background, optional modules (30û40 credits) are available in a wide range of areas including: industrial automation; automatic control; mechanical power transmissions; high-performance embedded systems.

Assessment is by examination, course work assignments, project work and a dissertation. With first-class laboratories that are able to provide you with hands-on experience, we are confident that the programme offers an appropriate balance between theory and practice and that the knowledge and skills you attain will be much sought after by industry.
