Program Description:
This programme is aimed at graduate engineers who wish to specialise in key electrical technologies applicable to marine engineering in a multidisciplinary approach.
You take a selection of taught modules (100 credits) and undertake a research project and dissertation (80 credits). Compulsory modules (70 credits) include: marine electro-technology; marine electrical power systems; marine electric propulsion; marine machinery systems; ship propulsion; data analysis and interpretation; research skills. Optional modules (30 credits) are selected from a list that includes: marine production technology; ship performance at sea; optimal marine design; marine management technology; surveying ships and offshore installations; marine power transmission.
The programme is also available with a Preliminary Year, which provides you with the necessary knowledge to study at Master's level. You select one module (20 credits) from: marine engineering design; marine design; offshore design; small craft design. You also take 70 credits of optional modules and complete a project and report (30 credits).
