Program Overview
- Program Description:
- This programme, run jointly by Newcastle University Business School and the School of Computing Science, is primarily aimed at graduates, or those at a graduate level, who have an interest in pursuing a management career that has a strong emphasis on e-business and information systems. We aim to develop future managers who will shape their organisations, not simply manage within existing contexts.
In the first semester, you receive a grounding in organisation theory, computing environments, e-business, Internet technologies and information system analysis and development (60 credits). In the second semester, subject knowledge is deepened through a series of advanced seminars (20 credits) and you study research methods (10 credits). You also undertake a consultancy project or, subject to availability, a project based around a specialist module in health informatics (30 credits). Finally, you complete your studies with a research dissertation (60 credits). The programme emphasises the development of skills and competencies in system development but also higher-level and more critical understanding of how organisations and consultancy actually work.
