Program Description:

The Department of Pathology offers a vigorous multidisciplinary milieu for training in pathology. They focus on the comprehensive study of the pathogenesis of human disease; this knowledge and the ability to apply it is critical to the ultimate prevention and cure of all diseases. The educational program is designed to foster analytical problem-solving within the wide range of the basic medical sciences. Particular emphasis is laid on the fundamental disciplines of cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology. This multi-disciplinary approach is central to the Department's educational and research focus. Areas of interest in the department include examination of the underlying mechanisms involved in biochemical toxicology, cancer cell biology, cell-cycle regulation and apoptosis, chemical carcinogenesis, and tissue engineering.
