Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The M.A. degree programs in education meet the needs of college graduates who are prospective or experienced teachers. The major in teaching is offered to students who hold a bachelor’s degree and are interested in seeking initial teacher licensure and a Master of Arts degree. The professional advancement programs are ideal for practicing teachers who wish to enhance their skills in the classroom or advance to positions of leadership while obtaining a Master of Arts degree. An intensive course of study integrates theory and field work in diverse educational settings. Classes meet during late afternoon and evening hours, in the summer months, and occasionally on weekends. The TEAM (Teacher Education Accelerated Master’s) programs prepare adults to enter the teaching profession through an intense learning and apprentice format. Three programs are offered: TEAM–IEC (Inclusive Early Childhood), TEAM–AYA (Adolescent/Young Adult), and TEAM–MSE (Multicultural/Special Education). The Mount’s TEAM programs lead to a Master of Arts in education with a major in teaching, and can be completed in seventeen months. The programs are open to qualified students who have a bachelor’s degree.
