- Program Description:
- The Master of Arts in Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations is a one-of-its-kind graduate program for students passionate about educating art students with disabilities as well as typical students. The program is offered in a hybrid delivery that includes students completing program requirements both on-campus and online instruction. During the summer term, students experience traditional on-campus, full-time instruction and beginning in Fall 2014, through online delivery. Candidates critically assess and challenge existing art education policies and practices while gaining specific skills and resources to strengthen the learning environment through the use of art for exceptional students including individuals with disabilities, the gifted and the elderly. The program fosters research-based and experiential based learning as candidates develop and test innovative and adaptive teaching strategies in professional field settings. Accreditations: Moore College of Art & Design’s accreditation was reaffirmed for a ten year period by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in June 2012. This program has received plan approval from NASAD: National Association of Schools of Art & Design.
