Program Overview
- Program Description:
- Montana Tech’s Industrial Hygiene Master’s degree program is accredited by The Applied Science Accreditation Commission of the Accreditations Board of Engineering and Technology. The program is practice-oriented, emphasizing a problem-solving approach that empowers people in many disciplines to communicate more effectively and bridge the complex and isolated worlds of scientific and technical specialties. This degree is offered both on-campus and on-line. Industrial Hygienists are responsible for recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace environmental factors that may affect the health, comfort, or productivity of the worker. The industrial hygiene program at Montana Tech is one of the most highly regarded industrial hygiene training programs in the country. Comprehensive state-of-the-art training is offered in qualitative and quantitative assessment of chemical, physical, ergonomics, radiological, and biological hazards in the workplace as well as health effects, measurement and control technologies, statistical data analysis, regulatory compliance, health and safety program management and related issues. In 2002 our Industrial Hygiene MS was also offered through an online web based format, which brings graduate education in industrial hygiene to working professionals and is structured to encourage participative, collaborative, and applied problem-solving strategies that are facilitated by a faculty who will help integrate academic theory with current practical application. An IH graduate, Patrick J. Hintz, states: “I benefited greatly from the master’s program in industrial hygiene at Montana Tech. My professors always took the time for questions in and outside of class, provided career guidance, and helped me take advantage of opportunities with internships where I could practice what I learned in the classroom. ...the program allowed me to hit the ground running and begin an exciting career with NOSH which would take me around the world."
