- Missouri State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to award baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctorate degrees. Special accreditations are also held by units within the university. Our program has been formally approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

- Traditional: You must have obtained a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work. Submit a letter of intent and three letters of recommendation, including one from your present employer and one from an individual who can attest to your academic ability: to Lisa Monkres in the teacher certification office. Accelerated: Junior standing with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Admission to Teacher Education. Completion of SPE 345 (Educational Evaluation of Exceptional Students) and SPE 346 (Educational Evaluation of Exceptional Students Lab) Acceptance of the applicant by the graduate faculty in Special Education under the accelerated master's option.
