Program Overview

Program Description:
The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) entry-level curriculum prepares students to be reflective occupational therapy practitioners in traditional and emerging areas of practice. The program prepares graduates to practice in a variety of settings such as hospitals, homes, private practices, rehabilitation facilities, schools, community and governmental agencies, industry, and education or research centers. The entry-level occupational therapy master’s degree program has applied for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Once accreditation of the program has been obtained, its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).

Full admission to the MOT program is competitive; not all that apply will be admitted. Completed applications must be received by January 15th for admission beginning in the following June. To be considered for admission to the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program, a prospective student must apply to the MSU Master of Occupational Therapy graduate program via the Occupational Therapist Centralized Application Services (OTCAS).
