- Program Description:
The M.Ed. in Special Education allows students the opportunity of advanced study in mental and physical disabilities, including the areas of brain injuries, autism/PPD, specific learning disabilities, all levels of mental retardation, physical disabilities and serious emotional disturbances. The number of credits required is determined on an individual basis dependent upon the currency of the student’s background and prior certification special education (K-12). The master’s degree in special education requires either 36 or 39 credits depending on a student’s choice of thesis or non-thesis option.

- Teacher Education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the University is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
- Requirements:
- Applicants must possess Pennsylvania Instructional I Certification in elementary education. Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field other than elementary education may satisfy Instructional I Certificate requirements and master’s degree requirements concurrently. Applicants must have earned a 2.75 or better undergraduate cumulative average. The General Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) are required.
