- In order to develop professional leadership in public administration, Master of Public Administration (MPA) students at the Middlebury Institute have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills in nonprofit governance, general management, organizational marketing, strategic planning, program development, financial management, policy analysis and managerial problem solving. During their studies, students develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex political, legal and competitive environments within which nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations must function. Students are prepared to assume a broad range of leadership positions in the fields of philanthropy, voluntarism, civil society development, private sector management and human development.

- Accreditation:
- The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) provides internationally recognized, specialized accreditation for business programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level. AACSB Accreditation is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn. New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), a higher education accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

- MPA students are required to complete 8-12 credits of advanced foreign language study as part of their degree program. The 8-12 credits must be dedicated to a single language of study (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, or Russian) and may choose to select additional credits of language coursework or up to 4 credits of Intercultural Competency coursework. While completed coursework in economics is not a requirement to apply to the Middlebury Institute, we strongly recommend that students preparing to enter the program complete their economics study before matriculating to the Middlebury Institute. MPA Students must demonstrate proficiency in microeconomics and macroeconomics before they can register for one of the required economics courses at the Middlebury Institute. GRE scores are not required.
