This M.Ed. program prepares leaders to: -Implement policies and practices consistent with the school's vision and mission -Create an environment that fosters student growth in academic, social, emotional and spiritual realms -Promote ongoing collaboration among the school's governing board, administrative leadership, faculty, and staff -Establish a culture in which all stakeholders are challenged and inspired to give their best in pursuit of the school's goals -Generate sustainable funding sources by offering a marketable educational program -Develop and implement effective personnel practices that support administration, faculty and staff -This program does not lead to certification or certification upgrade. The Academy includes breakout sessions to expose candidates to diverse ideas and methods on topics that complement and enhance the learning experience. PROGRAM DELIVERY MODELS The M.Ed. in Independent and Charter School Leadership is offered at Mercer's Atlanta and Macon campuses. The convenient program format is designed to accommodate working students with evening classes delivered in 8-week sessions. Online components of the program are supplemented by the use of the BlackBoard Course Management System and videoconferencing. PROGRAM OF STUDY Candidates must successfully complete 36 credit hours which includes an internship experience. The program accepts students five times a year in August, October, January, March, and May. Applicant must hold an undergraduate degree from an regionally-accredited university with a minimum of a 2.75 GPA. Completion of at least three years of school experience is preferable, but not required. A completed application $25 application fee Official transcripts of all college work attempted 2 letters of recommendation (from former and/or current supervisors or instructors) Official GRE score report. Target scores: 146 Verbal + 141 Quantitative, 3.5 Analytical Writing. Old format target score: 800 for Verbal and Quantitative sections combined, 3.5 Analytical Writing
