Program Description:
Applicants to the K-5 Mathematics Endorsement program may choose to enter the program as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student or they may choose to incorporate the endorsement classes within one of the graduate degree programs, either then M.Ed. or Ed.S. in Early Childhood Education. Students who are incorporating an endorsement into a degree program must also meet the requirements for admission to that degree program. Courses required for the K-5 Mathematics Endorsement are the following: -EDMT 677 Number Sense and Algebra in ECE -EDMT 678 Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis in ECE -EDUC 679 Mathematics Content Pedagogy and Residency 505-2-.155 K-5 MATHEMATICS ENDORSEMENT (1) To be eligible for the K-5 MATHEMATICS ENDORSEMENT the applicant must complete a Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) approved K-5 MATHEMATICS ENDORSEMENT PROGRAM and be recommended by the provider. To be eligible to enroll in the endorsement program, approved program providers require that all candidates have a minimum of one year of teaching experience and hold a level 4 or higher Clear Renewable certificate in one or more of following fields: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (P-5); MIDDLE GRADES MATHEMATICS (4-8); SPECIAL EDUCATION GENERAL CURRICULUM/EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (P-5). Educators holding any of the following certificates combined with a core academic content concentration in mathematics are also eligible to enroll: SPECIAL EDUCATION GENERAL CURRICULUM (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION ADAPTED CURRICULUM (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION BEHAVIOR DISORDERS (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION LEARNING DISABILITIES (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION DEAF EDUCATION (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION PHYSICAL AND HEALTH DISABILITIES (P-12); SPECIAL EDUCATION VISUAL IMPAIRMENT (P-12); and GIFTED EDUCATION (P-12).

For all K-5 Mathematics Endorsement applicants, the following admission criteria apply: -Clear Renewable Certificate for P-5, Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8), Special Education/General Curriculum (P-5), or other Special Education fields with a core academic content concentration in mathematics. -A minimum of one year of teaching experience. -A minimum grade of C in at least two mathematics content courses in undergraduate or graduate school.
