Program Description:

The Medical University of Warsaw offers both a six-year MD program; and a four-year MD program for students already possessing an undergraduate degree and who have completed the pre-med requirements of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Only candidates who have citizenship in a country other than Poland are eligible for admission into the English language programs. The Medical University of Warsaw is the largest medical university in Poland. In addition to training medical doctors, the Medical University of Warsaw also offers, with Polish as the language of instruction, programs in nursing, midwifery, nutrition, physical therapy, dentistry, pharmacy, and a paramedic training program. The Medical University of Warsaw has an academic teaching staff of 1,352 teachers, 146 professors and 581 lecturers teaching among 141 departments and clinics. More than 5,000 students are enrolled at the Medical University of Warsaw. Daily workload examples in which students are encouraged to participate include, but not limited to activities in multi-organ transplantology departments, advanced obstetrics care departments, and advanced neurosurgical departments. The Medical University of Warsaw is a large medical school, and students have ready access to the full breadth of medicine, from preventative care to some of the most advanced fields in medicine to date, like immunology, transplantology and imaging. The Medical University of Warsaw has 16 formal research agreements which involve the exchange of research staff, joint research projects, and joint research publications. The Medical University of Warsaw funds and receives funding for approximately 150 research projects annually. The vast majority of students enrolled at the Medical University of Warsaw are Polish. The second largest group of students are from Sweden and Norway, and the third largest group are students from the United States and Canada.

International Requirements:

The English language programs at the Medical University of Warsaw are open to students who have citizenship from a country other than Poland. The 4 year MD program requires that the applicant complete either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree program and that the applicant has taken courses consistent with a pre-med curriculum. Good knowledge of both written and spoken English is a pre-requisite for admission. An applicant whose native language is not English should provide a certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEFL) or any other documentation to demonstrate reasonable proficiency in English.
