- Program Description:
- The Medical School for International Health is an innovative, four-year, North American-stle medical school that prepares physicians to address the impact of cultural, economic, political and environmental factors on the health of individuals and populations worldwide. MSIH is the first medical school with a mission dedicated to global health.
Global health coursework is integrated into all four years of the medical school curriculum, in both required and elective courses. All courses are taught in English. Medical Hebrew is offered during the first two years to prepare students for interaction with non-English speaking patients. Capstone component of the program includes a two month global health clerkship in a resource-poor environment, usually located in a developing country.
- Setting Description:
- The first three years of the program take place in Beer-Sheva, Israel. During he fourth year, students complete electives in the United States. MSIH has affiliations with a number of medical schools, including Columbia University, Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the University of Kentucky.
