Program Overview

Program Description:
The graduate degree in Music Education prepares students for teaching vocal or instrumental music on the K-12 level as well as in some colleges and universities. Upon completion of the degree, graduates are eligible to apply for permanent teacher certification. The MA in Music Education at Marywood offers a wide variety of areas on which to focus. Graduates may choose to teach at the elementary (K-6) or secondary (7-12) level in band, orchestra, and/or vocal/general music settings. Others may elect to work in more specialized areas, such as early childhood music education, curricular design and instruction, music technology, administration, churches, or other venues. The 36-credit degree can be completed in four years with the majority of courses offered during summer sessions. Online courses and fall/spring offerings provide additional credit completion options.
