Program Overview
- Program Description:
Society is increasingly interested in physical fitness and sports competition and athletic trainers help prevent and treat injuries. They are often the first health-care professionals on the scene when injuries occur and must be trained to recognize, evaluate and assess injuries, and provide immediate care. Athletic training careers are found in secondary schools, colleges and universities, in hospitals and clinics, in fitness and recreation centers, in business and industry, and with professional sports teams.
Manchester has a history of excellence in the health sciences, and our Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program stands out as one of the Midwest’s top athletic training graduate programs. Since the program’s inception in 2010, 100 percent of MAT candidates have passed their national Board of Certification exam – 95 percent on their first attempt.
Manchester stands out from athletic training master's programs at competitor schools with large enrollments. At Manchester, class sizes are small, affording plenty of personal attention from highly trained, skilled faculty, making sure your questions are answered and lessons are understood.
Master of Athletic Training students get practical, hands-on experience that prepare them for jobs. They get teaching experience in Manchester’s program, and they have immediate opportunities for clinical rotation at off-campus locations and with the University’s athletic teams.
