- The MSc Gender degree allows students to choose options up to the value of two full units from a wide range of courses. MSc Gender (Research) enables you to combine courses in gender with a rigorous training in quantitative and qualitative research methods, but as a consequence offers reduced opportunities for optional units. Core course: gender theories in the modern world. Options including: anthropology of kinship, sex and gender; gender, knowledge and research practice; globalising sexualities; gender and media representation; gender, space and society; many others. 10,000-12,000 word dissertation. In addition to the core course and dissertation MSc Research students must take: gender, knowledge and research practice; quantitative analysis I: description and inference or quantitative analysis II: the generalised linear model; fundamentals of research design; qualitative social research: interview, text and image.
