- Aims of the course The course aims to develop an understanding of the core skills of systems development and of innovative developments within the industry. System analysis and the design aspects of information systems development are emphasised, in particular, web-based and object-oriented projects. The course provides you with the knowledge and skills required for working on the analysis, design and implementation of Information Systems in a commercial context. The modular structure of the course makes it more accessible for those in employment, offering a coherent course with modules that complement each other. You have access to a wide range of hardware and software, both within the department and university wide. Entry requirements The minimum entry requirement is normally a second-class Honours Degree in a related subject such as computing, computing and information systems or business information technology. Applicants with extensive industrial experience and relevant skills may also be considered. The minimum level of information systems development skills required includes: experience of developing applications with an object-oriented programming language experience of developing web applications with HTML experience of using an object-oriented analysis and design method familiarity with the concepts of human-computer interface theory an understanding of fundamental concepts in telecommunications and computing, including the nature of digital information and communication. Candidates may be interviewed at the discretion of the department.
