Lincoln University pioneered the interdisciplinary research and study of resource issues; the Master of Resource Studies reflects this lead. There are three broad interdisciplinary streams to the degree:

• resource planning and environmental policy
• development and cultural studies
• environmental education

Study is led by an interdisciplinary study and research team, with strong links to the professional community involved in resource issues.
