Program Overview

Program Description:
For pioneers in the medical care of tomorrow With the aging population are older people more than ever in the spotlight. More than half of all elderly people who have ever lived, lives now. Illness and death are at the advanced age * banished by an accumulation of damage to the aging body. The aging process is (partly) avoided when there is sufficient investment in maintenance and repair. In this way, the length and quality of life continually improved. In the future, we will therefore more years in good health can expect. Despite this, for many, life will end with a period of illness and discomfort. Care for the elderly differs from that of children and adults because of old age have multiple concurrent diseases (multi-morbidity). This leads to undertreatment and overtreatment. In the elderly, therefore, a different - more holistic - approach. Current academic, research and practice are ill-equipped for this necessary change in thinking about dealing with older people to cope. For that reason, the Leyden Academy, the Masters 'Vitality and Ageing' established. The MA Vitality and Ageing is accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO).
