Research can be conducted in various fields within Chemistry and Biochemistry. Areas of expertise within the department include:Analytical, Environmental and Inorganic (coordination chemistry, analytical chemistry related to mining and smelting, geochemical behaviour of toxic trace elements, electro-deposition of metals and alloys) Biochemistry (biotechnology, biochemical adaptation, biosensors, microbial oxidation and interactions with metals, biochemistry of stressed organisms, enzymes and diseases, molecular control of apoptosis).
