Program Description:
The Master of Mathematics programme aims to train highly qualified all-around mathematicians, with a keen sense for accurate reasoning and the ability to work independently. Accuracy and an aptitude for analysis, modelling, and abstraction are important assets and provide graduates with considerable professional versatility. Graduates will be able to communicate scientifically with fellow mathematicians, as well as with other scientists and people less familiar with mathematics. This is an initial Master's programme and can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis. 120 ECTS

Mathematics is essential for all the natural sciences. The academic staff at the Department of Mathematics includes: - Researchers in pure mathematics with international expertise in algebraic geometry, number theory, differential geometry, functional analysis, and real and complex analysis - Mathematical statisticians dealing with robust statistics, non-parametric statistics, extreme values and financial mathematics - Applied mathematicians working in plasma astrophysics and computational fluid dynamics. Department faculty are responsible for the three-year Bachelor of Mathematics programme and the two-year Master of Mathematics programme.

The Flemish Government's generous co-financing system ensures that tuition fees for Bachelor's and initial Master's programmes remain relatively low: 890 EUR per academic year (subject to change without notice).
