This one-year advanced Master of Science in Deglutology pioneers a unique academic degree in the science of swallowing.

The programme aims to train competent professionals in deglutology, the science of deglutition. It originated from a societal demand for skilled professionals specialised in the integrated care of patients with swallowing disorders in the mouth, throat or oesophagus.

As a student, you will receive an in-depth theoretical training in the field of dysphagia. You will gain advanced clinical diagnostic and therapeutic competencies and conduct research in an evidence-based setting.

This academic programme in deglutology stems from a range of unmet requests from students (education), clinicians (medical practitioners and hospitals), researchers (science) as well as from the broad professional field. The prevalence and impact of dysphagia over the last 10 years has been striking and will continue to grow.  The introduction of the Master of Science in Deglutology is timely: it meets an urgent clinical need as society will be increasingly confronted with dysphagia.
