Program Description:
The Faculty of Law at KU Leuven values the ideals of student mobility set forth in the Bologna Accords, and that spirit of internationalism is alive and well in Leuven. The Master of Laws is an ideal programme for international students who have completed an LL.B. degree at a non-Belgian university. It offers the opportunity to obtain a Master's degree from one of Europe's most highly regarded law faculties and provides a valuable platform from which to launch a career as a global lawyer in a genuinely European environment. This is an initial Master's programme and can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis.

In this Master program we provide students with both a comprehensive and deepened knowledge of European or International law. In doing so the knowledge and reflective capacities acquired in the national Bachelor of Law programme, wherever followed in the world, are put in a specific transnational perspective, allowing the student in turn to get a better understanding also of his national legal context. The Master program also accentuates the need for a good methodological and comparative legal training. As such the clustering of some basic courses of European respectively international law, will give the student the opportunity to explore a wider subject matter, whilst a series of options will nevertheless allow the student further specialization in a specific area of European or international law. As European and international law are interwoven, it is also made that the student next to his major choice for European or international law, will also address respectively international or European law.

The student will be made fit for functioning in truly international and multidisciplinary surroundings, - be it international institutions, multinational enterprises or international law firms, combining an open mind with an in depth knowledge of the area of law he or she has specialized in.

Cost:
The Flemish Government's generous co-financing system ensures that tuition fees for Bachelor's and initial Master's programmes remain relatively low: 890 EUR per academic year (subject to change without notice).
