Program Description:

All admitted students receive the benefits of the KAUST Fellowship which includes: Full tuition support, Competitive monthly living allowance, Housing, Private medical and dental coverage and Relocation support. The Mechanical Engineering Program at KAUST is selective and strongly research oriented. While students intending to complete solely a Master’s degree can be accepted, admissions are preferentially granted to those who intend to pursue a PhD degree. Research areas in Mechanical Engineering at KAUST include: Materials and Solids; Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Sciences & Energy; and Controls and Dynamics. Courses provide a solid foundation in each track covering subjects such as: Mechanical Behavior of Engineering Materials, Continuum Mechanics, Theoretical and Computational Fluid Mechanics, Experimental and Numerical Combustion, Thermodynamics, Control Design, Dynamic Analysis, Modeling and Simulation. Successful student applicants must have a solid background in undergraduate mathematics, physics and engineering. The qualifications of each student applicant are considered individually. If accepted, the graduate student will design his/her program of study in consultation with a faculty advisor. The course of study is typically arranged to broaden the understanding of the field as well as focusing on a research-driven specialty.
