Grassland Management Graduate Certificate

The grassland management graduate certificate program requires 12 credit hours of course work and provides students with expertise in managing grasslands, the principle resource of the Great Plains.

Grasslands comprise more than 50 percent of the land surface area in the Great Plains, with livestock grazing being its major use. Grasslands are important for providing wildlife habitat, recreation, high quality water and air and other environmental services.

The program is offered through AG*IDEA, a national consortium of universities offering programs and courses in agriculture disciplines. 

Careers in Grassland Management 

A certificate in grassland management will prepare individuals for:

  • rangeland management specialist/conservationist for government agencies
  • land steward for private organizations
  • ranch manager
  • extension educator
  • environmental consultant
  • co-op manager
