The Kansai University Graduate School aims to conduct research, and to provide both theoretical and practical instruction in the fields of Law, Letters, Economics, Commerce, Sociology, Informatics, Science and Engineering,Foreign Language Education and Research, Psychology, and Safety Science. Both its academic staff and the post-graduate body under its tutelage strive to attain the highest levels of understanding and expertise in their respective fields, and to contribute to the further development of human culture. The Master's Degree Program was established under the provisions of the University Act of 1948 in 1950 -- Kansai University being among the very first few Japanese private universities to take this step -- and in 1953 a Ph.D. Degree Program followed this. Their curricula and staff having been judged as fully meeting the Standard for the Establishment of Graduate Schools enacted in 1975, its ten schools (those of Law, Letters, Economics, Commerce, Sociology, Informatics, Science and Engineering, Foreign Language Education and Research, Psychology, and Safety Science) have by now been accredited with the right to grant doctoral degrees.
