Program Description:

The aim of the Introductory Course is to provide participants with basic knowledge of international law. Leading experts in the field will outline the most important aspects of international taxation from European and U.S. points of view. The issues covered include the legal structures for taxing residents and nonresidents on income from cross-border activities and investments, double taxation and its alleviation, income tax treaties, provisions of German tax law limiting tax deferral through foreign entities and European tax law. The Advanced Course is meant for those who completed the Introductory Course or otherwise have knowledge and experience in international taxation. Case studies are used to explore taxation and tax planning in specific situations in detail. The Professional Course deals particularly with the topic of Transfer Pricing and covers current problems in this area in detail and depth. All three courses provide students and young professionals with the opportunity to learn from exceptional lecturers with extensive international tax experience in Germany, other countries of the European Union and the United States. Each of the three courses stands on its own and may be attended separately. Students can earn three law credits. The fee for the Advanced and Professional Course include all course materials, lunches and refreshments. Muenster, located 150 km northeast of Cologne, is a beautiful university town with a history of over 1200 years. It has a population of 280,000 including 60,000 university students. The city offers many cultural activities, including a renowned Picasso museum, theaters, galleries as well as wonderful shopping, restaurants and pubs. Courses are held in modern fully-equipped seminar rooms located in the heart of the city.
