Program Overview

Program Description:

The School Counseling program at John Carroll University empowers you to be a social change agent in schools. As you’re trained as an effective counselor, you’ll also be encouraged to build community partnerships, address opportunity gaps faced by students, and learn data-driven program evaluation.

Upon completion of this program, you’ll receive a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) and be license-eligible as a school counselor in the State of Ohio.

The 48-credit-hour program can be completed in as little as two years through a combination of face-to-face and hybrid/online courses. Both full- and part-time students are eligible, so you can progress through the program at your own pace.

The program provides in-depth training to students who want to work with clients in care of the whole person. Our students receive unique opportunities, including joining our vibrant student community, studying abroad with John Carroll counseling faculty in Vietnam, and conducting research with faculty.
