Program Description:

John Carroll University is committed to developing world-class teachers who empower students to learn, grow, and change the world around them. In our Initial Licensure program, you’ll develop the tools and skills to obtain your license and step into your future as a master’s-level teacher.

The Professional Teacher Program is a flexible program designed for students to take full or part time. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) and be license-eligible in one of the following:

• Early Childhood (Pre-K through Grade 5)
• Middle Childhood (Grades 4 through 9). Two of the following teaching fields:
  • Language Arts
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
• Adolescent/Young Adult (Grades 7 through 12). One of the following teaching fields:
  • Chemistry
  • Life Science/Chemistry
  • Chemistry/Physics
  • Integrated Language Arts
