- Program Description:
John Carroll University’s Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A) will provide students the opportunity to increase their knowledge through formal coursework in the study of biology. The Biology program encourages you to further develop your research skills and to evaluate biological phenomena in new ways while preparing students for professional careers or doctoral studies in a variety of biological disciplines. It also allows you to develop a focus within the broad spectrum of biology and demonstrate competency in a specific area of study. The program will prepare students to create, analyze, and implement research, as well as accurately evaluate and communicate biological information.
The Master of Science (M.S.) is designed for students seeking research experience. Successful candidates must demonstrate the mastery of essential research techniques and the ability to communicate effectively the results of research and scholarship. The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree is designed for students seeking a fuller understanding of the discipline. There is no research thesis requirement for M.A. students.
