Program Description:

The MA in Central and Eastern European Studies is designed to provide students with advanced and interdisciplinary knowledge of contemporary European affairs. Our focus is the study of the political, economic and cultural character of Central and Eastern Europe and the European Union. Our programmes are taught by leading regional specialists with an excellent student/teacher ratio and a commitment to support individual research interests. At CES, we encourage students to develop their own independent curriculum and study track, so that they can learn about and research topics that best reflect their interests and academic background. Students follow one of three related study tracks, and the MA degree with which they graduate reflects their specialisation. - EU Studies - Central and Eastern European Studies - Europeanisation and Governance in CEE The EU Studies track focuses on the functions and inner-workings of EU institutions and the major issues the EU faces in contemporary times. The CEE Studies specialization provides students with a comprehensive and in-depth investigation of the history, politics, economics, and society of the region. Lastly, The Europeanization and Governance in CEE program is concerned with foreign policy, and Europeanization and democratization processes in CEE. Furthermore, several special services are provided to students in the programme, including language classes, study trips, library and student/careers advisor. Most of our graduates apply their expertise in careers either in non-governmental or business sectors, while others continue with their studies on a doctoral level.

Requirements:

All candidates must either hold (or expect to obtain) a BA degree from a recognised and accredited university or an equivalent first-cycle degree earned in countries where BA degrees are not offered. Candidates possessing an MA degree may also apply. A degree in a relevant subject area is preferred; however, all applicants who can demonstrate interest in European Studies are encouraged to apply.
